Early Primitive Antique Pot Holder Hand Sewn and Embroidery
Early antique pot holder with hand embroidered cottage details. It has been hand sewn together and the embroidery is perfect with no missing stitches.
I believe this is 1880s to 1910, possibly earlier and the only one I've ever found like this. It's really quite wonderful. Feels lightly padded.
There are so many details to this little treasure - rounded transom window and what looks like tall pink gladiolus at each side of door. Two paned windows with flower boxes filled with pink flowers. Upstairs window is multi paned and cottage is finished off with chimney. Has a little plastic loop at back for hanging.
Use as intended or would make a lovely wall display in an antique frame.
Excellent condition for its age. This antique pot holder has darkened with age and needs a gentle soak. Also, there are some tiny spots (4th photo) and a broken stitch in transom window embroidery.
